Butler Snow attorney Tray Hairston has been selected into The National Black Lawyers’ Top 100, an honor given to only a select group of lawyers for their superior skills and qualifications in the field. Membership is by invitation only, and is limited to the top 100 attorneys in a region who have demonstrated excellence and have achieved outstanding results in their careers.
With this selection, Hairston has shown that he exemplifies superior qualifications, leadership skills, and performance in his area of legal practice. The selection process is based on a multi-phase process which includes peer nominations combined with third party research.

Hairston is a member of Butler Snow’s Public Finance, Tax Incentives & Credit Markets Group. He completed his undergraduate education at Tougaloo College before going on to earn his M.B.A. from Belhaven University and his Juris Doctor from Mississippi College School of Law.
Hairston has managed several major economic development projects and drafted legislation and regulations related to the Mississippi Health Care industry Zone Act of 2012. He has also served as bond counsel for various cities and counties throughout the state of Mississippi. Prior to joining Butler Snow, Hairston served as Counsel and Policy Advisor to Governor Phil Bryant. He also currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Mississippi College School of Law and frequently publishes scholarly articles on economic development and public finance.
Hairston has previously been recognized as the Young Lawyer of the Year by Mississippi College School of Law and in the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40. He is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the Mississippi Economic Development Council, the Mississippi Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation.
