Butler Snow LLP attorney Bradish “Brad” J. Waring was recently named a recipient of the Chief Justice’s Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his exemplary and exceptional service to the legal profession and to the system of justice in South Carolina. Chief Justice John W. Kittredge presented this extraordinary honor during a joint event attended by all the members of the Court, members of the South Carolina Bar and the Charleston County Bar Association. It is among the highest honors available to a lawyer in South Carolina.

At Butler Snow, Brad Waring is a member of the firm’s Tort, Transportation and Specialized Litigation Group. As a seasoned trial lawyer with more than 40 years of experience, he focuses his litigation practice primarily in the civil arena at the state and federal levels and regularly represents clients in complex commercial litigation matters, including product liability, asbestos litigation, insurance coverage, subrogation claims, business disputes, and admiralty. He is frequently asked by his peers to serve as a mediator or arbitrator in civil matters of various types.
Brad Waring was recently promoted to Knight 1st Class of the Order of Dannebrog, by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark after having served as the Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of Denmark for North and South Carolina since 2016. Waring has been recognized by Best Lawyers® for commercial litigation and bet-the-company litigation, by South Carolina Super Lawyers® for business litigation, transportation/maritime, alternative dispute resolution, insurance coverage and personal injury-products, by Chambers USA for litigation: general commercial and by Martindale-Hubbell® with an AV-Preeminent Peer Review rating. He serves as a Board Member of the Law Alumni Council and was the Past President of the South Carolina Bar, a Legacy Donor of the South Carolina Bar Foundation, the State Bar Delegate for South Carolina for the American Bar Association, and a mediator for the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals in Charleston. He is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Judicial Council, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the Southeast Admiralty Law Institute, the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the Litigation Counsel of America Trial Law Institute and Diversity Law Institute. Waring has been previously reappointed to the South Carolina Supreme Court’s Chief Justice’s Commission on The Profession.
