Ashley Wicks, an attorney in Butler Snow’s Public Finance, State and Local Taxation, Tax Credits and Tax Group, is slated to speak on two panels at the Novogradac 2023 Spring New Markets Tax Credit Conference in Washington, D.C. The Novogradac New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) Conference focus on the latest trends and insights into community development incentives and how community development entities can prepare for future NMTC allocation rounds.
The first panel Ashely will speak on is “NMTC Basics,” examining the fundamentals of the New Markets Tax Credit program, including the background, roles of significant players, the alphabet of CDEs, QEIs, QLICIs and QALICBs, how to avoid recapture and more. Her second panel, “Majority Investing in Minority-Owned Businesses,” will cover the needs, opportunities and challenges of investing in minority-owned businesses. Panelists will discuss how to move from a vision statement to actual investment in QALICBs that are making a difference in their communities.
