Butler Snow attorney Bradish J. Waring has been named to the South Carolina Supreme Court’s 2021 Pro Bono Honor Roll for a second time. He was also recognized on the inaugural Pro Bono Honor Roll in 2019.
This recognition acknowledges lawyers providing 50 or more hours of legal pro bono work or service to the profession in a calendar year. Waring is a longstanding member of the Chief Justice’s Commission on the Profession, the South Carolina Judicial Council, the South Carolina Supreme Court Historical Society and many other professional legal organizations.
Nearly a quarter of the South Carolina citizens live at or below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines and qualify for free civil legal aid. A vast majority of these households experience civil legal problems; including problems with health care, housing conditions, disability access, veteran’s benefits and domestic violence for which they cannot afford the services of a lawyer. The state’s legal services organizations are simply unable to meet the legal needs of these citizens without assistance from private attorneys. South Carolina attorneys often step in and volunteer their services by providing direct representation, holding clinics and answering questions for those of low or modest means.
Waring is a member of Butler Snow’s tort, transportation and specialized litigation group. As a seasoned trial lawyer with more than 40 years of experience, he focuses his litigation practice primarily in the civil arena at the state and federal levels, and frequently represents clients in complex commercial litigation matters including product liability, asbestos litigation, insurance coverage, subrogation claims, business disputes and admiralty.
Waring has been recognized by Best Lawyers® for commercial litigation and bet-the-company litigation, by South Carolina Super Lawyers® for business litigation, transportation/maritime, alternative dispute resolution, insurance coverage and personal injury-products, by Chambers USA for litigation: general commercial and by Martindale-Hubbell® with an AV-Preeminent Peer Review rating. He was also listed in Charleston Business Magazine’s Legal Elite of the Low Country – International Maritime, is a two-time recipient of South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Leadership in Law Award and is a recipient of the Compleat Lawyer Award, Gold Category from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Waring is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, the Charleston County Bar Association, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and the Defense Research Institute. He received his bachelor’s degree and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina.
