As part of Butler Snow’s ongoing pro bono program, the firm has teamed up with Mission First Legal Aid Clinic, a nonprofit organization based in Jackson, Mississippi, to host an Estate Planning Clinic. Butler Snow’s Ridgeland, Mississippi, office will be volunteering alongside partnering sponsor Entergy offering free legal advice on topics including wills, healthcare directives, and powers of attorney to the local community. The event will take place at Champion Senior Citizen Center on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
Mission First is an umbrella organization for several ministries based out of Jackson, Mississippi. All of the ministries of Mission First seek to meet physical, practical needs of people, and in so doing, to make the most of this opportunity for relationship, conversation, and sharing the love and truth of Christ. This organization provides community support through various services, including legal aid and assistance, to meet the needs of associated neighborhoods.
The Legal Aid Office provides legal services such as family law, consumer law, government benefit programs, housing, and debtor/creditor issues. Typical cases include guardianships, adoptions, and child advocacy. Operating with a minimal staff and a group of dedicated volunteer attorneys and law students, the Legal Aid Office provides services to those residents of Hinds, Madison, and Rankin Counties who qualify based on income.
Butler Snow’s Pro Bono Program is a firm-wide commitment to the public good with various projects, initiatives, and other efforts encouraged year-round. The firm performs pro bono legal services in litigation and non-litigation matters for individuals and non-profit organizations to directly benefit the communities where our attorneys live and work. Butler Snow’s Pro Bono Committee is comprised of attorneys from across practices, experience levels and geographic locations. Committee members work directly with the firm’s Pro Bono Counsel and strive to develop meaningful and impactful pro bono opportunities for Butler Snow attorneys.
