Shelley W. Coleman Joins Butler Snow

Butler Snow is pleased to announce that Shelley W. Coleman has joined the firm in N.C. Coleman will practice with the firm’s tort, transportation and specialized litigation group.

“We are very excited to welcome Shelley to the firm,” said Donald Clark, Jr., chairman, Butler Snow. “She is a very experienced litigator with more than 20 years of practice. We welcome her expertise in defending businesses, insurance carriers, employers and individuals.”

Coleman focuses her practice on insurance and commercial litigation. She has extensive knowledge of handling complex cases including insurance coverage disputes for liability, property, specialty and workers’ compensation carriers, extra-contractual litigation, and general business and commercial litigation. She volunteers with the Council for Children’s Rights, serving as an attorney advocate for children in contentious and difficult custody matters.

Coleman earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, and her Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University. She is admitted to practice in North Carolina, U.S. Court of Appeals: Fourth Circuit and U.S. District Courts: Eastern, Middle and Western districts of N.C. Coleman is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, Mecklenburg County Bar Association, American Bar Association, Claims and Litigation Management Alliance and Defense Research Institute.

Coleman has been recognized by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly with the Women of Justice Litigation Practitioner Award in 2014. This award spotlights women across the state who have demonstrated leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and exemplifying the highest ideals of the legal profession.
