Butler Snow is pleased to announce Jim Letten has been appointed to serve on a Tier 2 hearing committee of the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board (LADB). Jim’s term will go until Dec. 31, 2022.
The LADB was established by the Louisiana Supreme Court more than 25 years ago and is tasked with the responsibility of investigating all allegations of lawyer misconduct and making recommendations to the court when discipline is warranted. The agency consists of a statewide board, hearing committees, disciplinary counsel and administrative staff.
Tier 2 committees are assigned to review administrative work such as appeals of complaint dismissals and approval of admonitions. The committees also review requests by the office of disciplinary counsel to file formal charges. Jim will serve on hearing committee No. 49 with Matthew Jacob Glodowski and Thomas William Young, M.D.
Jim’s practice areas include corporate internal investigations and white-collar defense, corporate Foreign Corrupt Practices Act compliance, and regulatory matters, as well as commercial litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Jim was appointed United States Attorney by President George W. Bush in 2005 and continued in President Barack Obama’s administration. He was the longest-serving U.S. Attorney with more than 11 years of continuous service and one of only three U.S. Attorneys in the country appointed by successive presidents from different parties. Jim also served as the first assistant U.S. Attorney for the eastern district of Louisiana from 1994 – 2001.
