Announcing the Butler Snow Foundation 2024 Grant Recipients

The Butler Snow Foundation is pleased to announce its 2024 grant recipients. This year, the Foundation awarded over $150,000 to 21 nonprofit organizations that serve communities across the Foundation’s geographic footprint. These grants support critical programs and projects that address a wide range of community needs. The recipients and their initiatives include:

Mission Serve (Alpharetta, GA) – Mission Serve Memphis 2025
Mission Serve connects volunteers with communities in need through service projects. This grant will provide materials for a rehabilitation initiative in Memphis.

Seedling Foundation (Austin, TX) – Seedling Mentor Program
Seedling mentors children with incarcerated parents. The grant funding will provide materials like board games to support mentor-mentee relationships.

Sexual Trauma Awareness & Response (STAR) (Baton Rouge, LA) – Technology Improvements
STAR supports survivors of sexual trauma with counseling, advocacy, and education. This funding will improve their cybersecurity infrastructure through new technology upgrades.

First Light (Birmingham, AL) – Home Again
First Light provides emergency shelter and housing programs for homeless women and children. This grant will support the purchase of new beds and bedding for guests transitioning to permanent housing.

Glenwood, Inc. (Birmingham, AL) – Sunshades for Children’s Center Playground
Glenwood offers comprehensive services for individuals with autism and behavioral health needs. The grant will fund the installation of permanent sunshades over their playground to protect residents from harmful UV rays.

United Ability (Birmingham, AL) – Assistive Technology Needs of Children with Mixed Abilities
United Ability empowers people living with disabilities through innovative therapy, education, and support. The funding will enable the purchase of interactive whiteboards for therapy sessions and classroom activities.

Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education (WISE) (Birmingham, AL) – Inclusive Playground Revitalization Project
WISE serves children with hearing loss, fostering spoken language development. This grant will enhance their inclusive playground with new equipment.

WellStone (Huntsville, AL) – WellStone Emergency Services Pediatric Unit
WellStone provides mental health services to individuals and families. This grant will help construct a classroom in their pediatric unit, offering care and stabilization for children in crisis.

Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area (Jackson, MS) – Water Line Replacement
Habitat for Humanity MCA builds homes and offers resources to families in need. This grant will replace an aging water line critical to their operations.

Little Light House – Central Mississippi (Jackson, MS) – Customized Activity Chair 
Little Light House provides educational and therapeutic services to children with special needs. This grant will fund a seating system to enhance learning environments for children with mobility challenges.

Metrobooming Training Academy (Jackson, MS) – Let’s Re-Innovate (Renovate)
Metrobooming Training Academy offers job training and skills development for underserved youth. The grant will renovate a facility to create additional classrooms.

Stewpot Community Services (Jackson, MS) – Brumfield Shelter Laundry Equipment
Stewpot provides meals, shelter, and support services to those in need. This funding will upgrade laundry facilities at their men’s shelter, improving access to clean clothing.

Meals on Wheels Collin County (McKinney, TX) – Transit Van for MOWCC’s Home Delivered Meals
Meals on Wheels Collin County delivers meals to homebound individuals. This grant will fund a new van to enhance meal delivery.

Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation (Memphis, TN) – Milla’s House Relocation Furniture Project
Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation enhances community well-being through healthcare support. The grant will furnish “The Front Porch,” a space for grief services.

West Tennessee Legal Services, Inc. (Memphis, TN) – WTLS Trauma-Informed Designed Waiting Room
West Tennessee Legal Services provides free legal aid to low-income families. This grant funding will create a sensory-friendly waiting room for clients.

Sexual Assault Center (Nashville, TN) – Key Accessibility Improvements
The Sexual Assault Center offers support and resources for survivors. This grant will enhance accessibility features, including handicap parking and motorized lifts.

Tennessee Innocence Project (Nashville, TN) – Technology and Equipment Upgrades
This organization works to exonerate the wrongfully convicted. The grant will modernize their technology, including laptops and server access.

South Houston NSBE Jr (Richmond, TX) – Robotics Competition and Coding Classes
South Houston NSBE Jr engages youth in STEM activities. This grant funding will expand their robotics and coding programs.

Daily Planet Health Services (Richmond, VA) – Increase Access to Care: East Cary Health Center

Daily Planet Health Services delivers comprehensive healthcare to underserved populations. The funding will expand dental services with new operatory equipment.

Ramp Access Made Possible by Students (Richmond, VA) – Providing Mobility and Independence

RAMPS is a nonprofit organization based in Richmond, Virginia, dedicated to enhancing mobility for low-income individuals who rely on wheelchairs. In collaboration with high school students, RAMPS provides modular wheelchair ramps to qualified recipients, enabling greater independence and improved quality of life. Student volunteers actively participate by fundraising for materials and assembling the ramps, fostering community engagement and service. The funds will be used for modular ramp materials to provide five permanent wheelchair users with a ramp for their home.

Next Step Ministries, Inc. (Woodstock, GA) – New Building Construction
Next Step Ministries provides services to adults with special needs, helping them achieve independence. The grant will fund construction of a new facility to expand their programming.
