Butler Snow LLP is pleased to announce that Meade W. Mitchell was elected the 2023 President-Elect Designee of the Mississippi Bar Association. Mitchell will begin his term as President-Elect at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Mississippi Bar in July. In this leadership role, Mitchell will be entrusted with the responsibility of upholding the 11,000+ member association’s mission to preserve public good by promoting excellence in the profession of law as well as the justice system.

Bringing nearly 30 years of experience in the legal field, Mitchell previously served as the Practice Group Leader for the firm’s Products, Catastrophic & Industrial Litigation group and concentrates his practice on product liability, toxic tort, environmental, and transportation litigation. He represents clients in complex litigation and product liability disputes throughout the United States, including serving as national/legal counsel for manufacturers and distributors. Mitchell also litigates premises, trucking and consumer protection suits.
Mitchell is recognized as a top fifty lawyer in Mississippi by Super Lawyers®. He is AV®-Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, and recognized in Best Lawyers in America® and Who’s Who Legal in Product Liability. Mitchell is also involved in various professional and community organizations, including previously serving as Chair of the Litigation Section of the Mississippi Bar and as President of both the Capital Area Bar Association and Jackson Young Lawyers. He is a current officer of the American Bar Association’s Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section and serves on its governing Council. He has chaired numerous committees of the Mississippi Bar as well as the American Bar Association’s Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section. Mitchell is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Mississippi Bar Foundation and a Bencher of the American Inns of Court, Charles Clark Chapter.
He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership, as President of Leadership Greater Jackson Alumni Association, and as a fundraiser chair and civic club president. Mitchell serves as Butler Snow’s representative to the Lex Mundi Legal Network.
Mitchell obtained his B.Accy. from the University of Mississippi and his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law, both with honors.
