Lee Davis Thames, a former long-time partner at Butler Snow, passed away on Tuesday, June 29 at his home in Vicksburg, Miss.
Thames earned his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi and served 32 years in the Army’s active and reserve service. Lee Davis joined Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada in 1980 and practiced at the firm until his retirement in 2013. Thames helped bring more than 200 trials to verdict, defending clients in Mississippi courts, U.S. District Courts, U.S. Courts of Appeals, U.S. Court of Military Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He earned great national and international attention for his defense of chemical and pharmaceutical companies in personal injury and mass tort litigation cases, which took him around the country and to Europe and the Middle East.
Throughout his legal career, Thames served in a number of leadership positions in professional organizations and community organizations. He garnered numerous awards and accolades for his work as a community leader and skilled litigator.

Service Details
A visitation begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6th in the parish hall at The Church of the Holy Trinity, 900 South St. in Vicksburg, Miss. The requiem eucharist begins at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
