Butler Snow attorney Rene Adema Moore has been selected to serve as a 2023 Regular Fellow of the American College of Bond Counsel. The organization was organized to bring together lawyers who are distinguished for their skill, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of bond law. These individuals are recognized as leaders who contribute substantially to the best interests of the bar and the general public.
At Butler Snow, Rene Moore is a member of the firm’s Public Finance, Tax Incentives and Credit Markets Group, where she conducts a full-time federal tax practice advising and representing clients before the IRS on matters related to the issuance of tax-exempt and tax-advantaged municipal debt instruments, including financing for governmental entities, higher education institutions, hospitals, 501(c)(3) organizations, housing developers and numerous other types of tax-exempt private activity bond financings.
With more than 25 years of tax-controversy experience before the IRS, Moore regularly represents governmental entities, 501(c)(3) entities and other conduit borrowers of tax-exempt municipal bonds when their respective tax-exempt or tax-advantaged municipal bond financing is under audit by the IRS. Moore’s tax-controversy practice includes representing issuers, 501(c)(3) entities and other conduit borrowers before the IRS in bond audits, appeals, private letter ruling requests and the IRS voluntary compliance program.
Moore has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America® in Tax Law from 2013-2024 and in Public Finance in 2024. Additionally, she is a member of multiple local and national organizations, including the American Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association. Moore previously held numerous leadership positions as a part of her membership with the National Association of Bond Lawyers, where she served as chair of the Bond Attorneys’ Workshop, Education and Member Services Committee and Fundamentals of Municipal Bonds Seminar.
Moore earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and obtained a Juris Doctor and Master Law Letters in Taxation from the University of Denver.
